Frequently Asked Questions
Q. People talk about Air Conditioning, but what exactly is an air conditioner?
A. An Air Conditioner is designed to cool you down. True air conditioners actually REDUCE the temperature - these systems operate using refrigeration techniques and come in various forms from mobile units to fixed installation systems
Q. So what is Climate Control?
A. Climate Control is an Air Conditioning system containing a heat pump which essentially reverses the system so that you can have HEATING and COOLING from the same equipment.
Q. OK, so where does the Hot Air go if I am cooling or the Cold air go if I am heating?
A. Climate Control Systems operate by taking the unwanted heat or cold and expelling it to the outside. In simple mobile units for cooling the hot (and damp) air is extracted from the room through a tube or hose, just like a tumble dryer. This hose can be through a venting hole in the wall or window or simply put out a partially opened window or door with the flattened hose supplied. In a more sophisticated split system the unwanted elements are discharged by the external condenser unit.
Q. So what is the best system for me?
A. It depends upon location and price. Mobiles obviously have the benefit of being transportable from room to room and can provide temporary solutions to a climate problem. Fixed systems are often more powerful and provide a truly complete comfortable solution to giving you the best temperature and humidity controlled environment in which to work or relax.
Q. How do I control everything?
A. Most of our units (except the cheaper mobiles) come with a remote control device that allows you to set the desired temperature. They even have timers so they can switch on and off at preset times. The fixed systems are exceptionally quiet and ideal if you want climate control in your bedroom.
Q. How Much?
A. We really need to assess your requirements and check the size of your room(s) as units come with different heating/cooling capacities. The installation of fixed systems always requires a consideration of the most convenient location. We are naturally more than happy to survey and give a you an estimate of price for various systems.
Q. Can I see a system in operation?
A. Of course, we will be happy to show you units in operation, our offices & showroom in Market Harborough have various units in full working environments.
